England beat Canada

England beat minnows Canada by 51 runs in their Group C encounter at St Lucia on Sunday. Chasing 280 for a win, Canada finished at 228 for seven after 50 overs with DR Chumney unbeaten on 27 and GR Codrington 7 not out.

Put in to bat by Canada John Davison, England finished at 279 for six in their stipulated 50 overs, thanks to a fine batting effort by Paul Collingwood, who remained unbeaten on 62.

For Canada, Mulla and Samad, chase with a 96-run partnership

Australia beat Neatherland

Defending Champions Australia thrashed the Netherlands by 229 runs in a Group A match at Besseterre, St Kitts on Sunday.

Chasing an improbable 359, the Netherlands was shot out for 129 runs in 26.5 overs with spinner Brad Hogg taking four wickets. Nathan Bracken and Glenn McGrath took two wickets each.

Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Australia posted 358 for five with Brad Hodge hitting 123 - his maiden ODI hundred. He was adjudged Man of the Match.
