India not to attend Manager's Meeting

The Indian Cricket Controll Board (BCCI) will not attnd the meeting of the 16 participating teams at the 2007 World Cup, called by the organisers in Barbados on thursday and Friday (21/09/06 and 22/09/06). Niranjan Shah, Secretary, said the Indian team manager would be appointed only after the Board's annual general meeting in Mumbai from September 27-28.


"No one from the BCCI is attending because there is a lot of time left for Worl Cup" Shah said "We will appoint manager only after th AGM. We are not going to lose out any anything by not attending the meeting" he added.



Representatives of the 16 participating nations will attend the meeting, hosted by the Cricket Operations Department of the World Cup West Indies 2007 Inc. Senior officials from the IC and World Cup headquarters as well as cricket operations managers from nine local organising committees of the host islands will also be attending.


Shah added that the BCCI would send the manager separately once an appointment is made. " We will send our manaager to the West Indies in January. They (organisers) will tell him the same thing" he said.
